Pence Is A Liar

This seems very promising for a COVID vaccine, via Mike Pence’s Twitter Account:

HUGE NEWS: Thanks to the public-private partnership forged by President @realDonaldTrump, @pfizer announced its Coronavirus Vaccine trial is EFFECTIVE, preventing infection in 90% of its volunteers.

That’s great news. The problem is that it was not a public-private partnership, it had nothing to do with Trump, and the senior vice president and the head of vaccine research and development at Pfizer, Dr. Kathrin Jansen made this clear.

From The New York Times:

But Dr. Jansen sought to distance the company from Operation Warp Speed and presidential politics, noting that the company — unlike the other vaccine front-runners — did not take any federal money to help pay for research and development.

Pence is trying to take credit for creating the vaccine as part of Trump’s Warp Speed COVID vaccine program. Pfizer wasn’t a part of Warp Speed, they never took any government funding for COVID vaccine research, and they never worked with the Trump administration.

It’s pretty telling that the one major drug company that is not bogged down by the scientific anchor that is the Trump administration is the first one to get anything accomplished. Par for the course in Trumpland.
