Ten years ago this week, we packed up our apartment and my furniture shop into a big-ass Uhaul and drove from Brooklyn to Los Angeles to start a fun new adventure.
I shut down my business and took my first
“real job” at The Disney|ABC Television Group as a content curation specialist. That’s a fancy way of saying I put videos and pictures into your streaming apps.
Over my years at Disney, I moved up the ranks to my current job as a Senior Product Manager. I run metadata, taxonomy, and information architecture for Disney’s Content Platforms team. We basically take care of all the data flowing through Disney+, Star+, Hulu, and ESPN. On the way, I created a new distribution system for video assets, built new content management systems, helped launch Disney+ and Marvel Unlimited, and worked on a ton of internal tools. It’s been a blast and I love going to work (almost) every day.
On the personal side of things, we got a new dog, lost an old one, got married, had an awesome kid, bought a house, and really built a circle of friends out here that I never thought we would.
Anyway, we’ve been here a decade now. So that’s fun.
